Puyol: Martino or Enrique would fit in well at Barcelona.

Gerardo Martino who recently led Newell's Old Boys to the Final title in his native Argentina and Luis Enrique former Spain and Barca player who joined Celta De Vigo last month are both suitable for the Catalan giants' playing style, captain Carles Puyol said on Monday After coach Tito Vilanova was forced to step down last week as his treatment for throat cancer.

The 35 year old told a post training news conference he was sure that the club's board would hire a coach able to adapt to Barca's game style which is based on ball possession.

"We know about his career, he is a very good coach, He likes Barcelona's playing style" :Puyol about Martino.

Luis Enrique's chance is less while compared to Martino because he only recently agreed to join Celta De Vigo and he was unsuccessful with AS Roma during the 2011-12 campaign.

Barca cancelled a pre-season friendly against Lechia Gdansk  because of Friday's announcement that Vilanova was leaving.

Liverpool want £55m for Luis Suarez

According to THESun, Arsenal are set to offer £40m as the fight for Liverpool stricker Luis Suarez hots up.

Arsene Wenger last night finally agreed to make a £40million offer for the Uruguayan striker after his £30m bid was rejected. But the reds now want £55m.

The Kop chief Brendan Rodgers said: “When you consider Edinson Cavani has gone for £55m, Luis is up there in that bracket of top talent."

"Arsenal’s was an offer we didn’t deem worthy of the talent."

“There’s no guarantee Luis would be sold even for that because we are trying to build something we don’t have to sell."

“We’re prepared to spend and get people in without having to sell him."

“The reality is we have had one offer."

“So there can be as much speculation as you like, there’s been nothing beyond that.”

“Liverpool are one of the giants of the world., There is massive competition and we don’t want to be selling players we want to keep our best ones here.”

Barcelona have turned their attentions to Daniel Agger

According to Spanish newspaper El Mundo, Barcelona manager Tito Vilanova wants to sign Liverpool's Daniel Agger after his first choice target Thiago SIlva's decision to stay at PSG.

Thiago Silva about the rumours : "Rumours? I have a four year contract with PSG and I will respect this."

"The season will start as the last one ended. I'll wear the jersey of Paris." He added.

The catalan giants were about sign agger from Liverpool last summer but they opted instead to improve their midfield by signing Alex Song from Arsenal.

Brazilian Center Back David Luiz and Roma's Marquinhos are also Barcelona targets, but Vilanova is thought to have major reservations about both players.

Fabregas wants to stay at Barcelona

According to BBC Sports Manchester United made a £25 million bid for Cesc Fabregas. but the former Arsenal captain did not take long to turn down the chance to play for the English champions and it was made clear that he had no interest in making a move.

Barcelona manager Tito Vilanova about the bid: "It is good to receive offers for Cesc Fabregas it means he is playing well. But I’ve spoken to Cesc and he wants to stay. He wants to win titles with Barca."

This means the Spanish international believes his current club is a better place to win titles.

Fabregas with 96 appearances for Barca, scored 29 goals and provided 32 assists.

Mourinho wants Drogba to make a sensational return to Chelsea

Jose Mourinho wants Didier Drogba to return to Chelsea after striker visits training ground. Drogba visited Chelsea’s training ground last Monday and had a private discussion with new manager Jose Mourinho.The former Real madrid manager is keen on signing the 35 year old for this season but Chelsea would have to to approch his current club Galatasaray.

Drogba still have one year remaining in his contract with the Turkish giants. If he choose to stay with his current club, then Mourinho will offer him a role at Chelsea after 1 year. It seems like the Ivorian will return to Stamford Bridge this summer or next.

Drogba on his potential return to Chelsea : “It would be nice, not just coaching but to help the club, For Chelsea I gave everything and, of course, they gave it back to me. I feel at home when I go to London.” 


Last week, Mourinho spoke about the development Drogba could make on chelsea squad. He said : “I can use Didier as a profile to persuade youngsters to follow me because he followed me from day one.”

Drogba joined Chelsea from Olympique de Marseille on 2004 for a club record  £24 million fee.Over his 8 years in chelsea, Drogba Scored 157 goals and provided 71 assists.

Manchester United Target Thiago Alcantara to join Bayern Munich.

According to talkSPORT, Manchester United are set to lose out in the race for  Barcelona midfielder Thiago Alcantara . The 22 year old has decided to leave Barcelona and snub the English champions in favour of a move to Bayern Munich in a deal that will keep him at the Allianz Arena for the next four seasons.

Bayern Munich have reportedly met Thiago Alcantara’s buy out clause and  it is expected that the midfielder will sign a five-year deal and undergo a medical within the near future, as personal terms appear to have already been agreed.

The German champions today met the €18 million buy out clause for the Spanish U 21 midfielder, and are awaiting his arrival in Germany to finalise the deal.

Manchester United boss David Moyes has been questioned about Bayern leading the chase for Thiago,In response he said : ” I never said he was a target.”

“We’re on with targets that we are chasing at this moment in time. There are people we are actively chasing and, at this moment in time, we’re happy with how things are going.” He added.

Pep Guardiola gave Thiago his Barcelona debut in 2009, and has confirmed to the midfielder that he will play a vital roll in his attempt to improve his squad. Pep will also join up with Mario Gotze who has recently arrived from Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund for a fee of €37million. Gotze was one of Guardiola’s favourite players,may be that is one of the factors that brought him to the Allianz Arena.

Arsenal to bring Cesc Fabregas back to the Emirates

According to the Daily Mail,The Gunners are preparing an offer to bring former captain Cesc Fabregas back to North London.

The former Barcelona midfielder is currently taking a break following his efforts for Spain at the Confederations Cup in Brazil, and is understood to be thinking about his long-term future.

Fabregas quit  the Emirates in 2011 to re-join Barcelona, where he began his career as a youth team player in 1997 before joining the English side in 2003.

The 26-year-old has also been linked with Manchester United,But the spaniard insists he wants to stay with the spanish giants and has no intentions on calling time on his two year stay at the club.

However, doubts over how he fits into manager Tito Vilanova’s plans having been regularly excluded from big games last season have left the former Emirates hero assessing his options.

Arsene Wenger’s side is poised to strike if the midfielder decides on a move, and have first refusal should Barca be willing to sell, which would make any potential deal relatively straightforward to conclude.Arsenal would have to pay a fixed price of £25 million to re-sign the player.

Fabregas appeared 303 times for Arsenal, scored 57 goals and provided 100 assists over his eight year stay in North London.

Thiago Silva agrees five year contract at Barcelona - report

Barcelona have struck personal terms with PSG defender Thiago Silva. The 28 year old has agreed a five-year contract with Barcelona according to reports emerging from Spain.Catalan newspaper Sport claims that the Brazilian defender settled on a contract offer from the Spanish giants and has given his green light to open negotiations with PSG.

Barca now intend to approach PSG about discussing a fee for the Brazilian. The catalan giants are said to be willing to offer up to €50 million for the Seleção captain.Their failed €35 million offer for Chelsea defender David Luiz on the weekend is proof enough that money is available, despite the €57 million deal for Neymar. Silva has long claimed that he was happy at PSG since joining from AC Milan last summer.

Ricardo Kaka hoping for Real Madrid stay


Brazil attacking midfielder Kaka says he intends to stay at Real Madrid, despite several reports linking him away from the Santiago Bernabeu.Kaka is supposedly on a short list of players heading for Real Madrid departure this summer, with media reports suggesting that he was looking to move back to play in Brazil.Kaka, who sees his former AC Milan boss Carlo Ancelotti recently taking over from Jose Mourinho at the Spanish La Liga club, says he has no intentions of leaving this summer.

“I intend to stay at Real Madrid. I am still under contract with Real Madrid. There’s a new manager and once he gets to work, we’ll sit down and exchange ideas.”

Kaka is also hoping to regain his form in an attempt to get a recall to the Brazil team for the 2014 World Cup.

“There is still over a year to go before the World Cup and the season has just started.I truly hope to play in this World Cup." The 31 year old added.

Illarramendi rejects Man City offer

Manchester City have failed with a bumper offer for Spain Under-21 star Asier Illarramendi.The Real Sociedad midfielder wants to move to Real Madrid and turned down a bigger contract offer from City to commit to the Spanish giants, says Punto Pelota.

City offered €30 million to Real Sociedad for Illarramendi, including the option for him to spend the coming season on loan at San Sebastian. Their contract offer was worth five times the 23 year old's current salary, but he has turned it down to commit to Real Madrid.

According to Marca, Illarramendi will wear Kaka’s No 8 shirt once his expected move to Real Madrid is finalised.The Real Sociedad midfielder wore the same number shirt at Anoeta last term and is expected to don the jersey vacated by Brazilian international Kaka, who is understood to be surplus to requirements at the Santiago Bernabeu by new boss Carlo Ancelotti.

Bayern Munich has agreed to sell Mario Gomez to Fiorentina.

Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge reached a deal with Fiorentina president Andrea Della Valle on Monday, with contracts to be finalized and signed in the coming days, the Bundesliga club announced on their website. 

"It was Mario Gomez's wish to leave Bayern in the direction of Florence. We have now granted his wish". Rummenigge said.

Gomez joined Bayern from Stuttgart for a then Bundesliga record fee of up to 35 million euros ($45 million) in 2009.Fiorentina will pay Bayern 20 million euros ($26 million) for the 27-year-old forward. Bild says the Italian side will pay 16 million euros ($20.6 million) up front, with the rest to follow later.Gomez scored 112 goals in 172 games for Bayern.

"With that he made a major contribution to two German titles and and two German Cup wins. The highlight, of course, was the Champions League win and the treble last season", Rummenigge said.

"I want to thank him for his performances for Bayern. On behalf of the club I wish him lots of luck and success in Florence."

Injury ruled Gomez out of Bayern's opening games to last season, and he was unable to reclaim a regular starting place due to Croatian striker Mario Mandzukic's good performances and coach Jupp Heynckes' policy of rotation.
Bayern has made no secret of its wish to sign Robert Lewandowski from Bundesliga rival Borussia Dortmund and Gomez reportedly felt a move away from the club was his only way of ensuring regular action ahead of the World Cup next year.Gomez has 25 goals in 58 appearances for Germany.

He joins a side that impressed last season under first-year coach Vincenzo Montella, finishing fourth in Serie A.The Viola were praised for their fluid, Spanish style passing game but they lacked a strong striker, a position Gomez will be expected to occupy.
